EALING MEDIATION SERVICE

Ealing Mediation Service (EMS) is an independent charity(reg. no.1057438) working to improve the lives of residents and communities throughout the London Borough of Ealing by offering a professional, effective and quality assured (CLS Quality Mark for Mediation Services) community mediation service, mainly focusing on neighbour disputes.

We are also expanding into the surrounding west London boroughs that have no local mediation service and diversifying into workplace mediation and, potentially, victim-offender mediation.

The charity is run by a Management Committee of volunteers from the community and has two part-time office based staff, freelance supervision staff and over 30 trained and experienced volunteer mediators, of which over 20 are active at any one time.

From our founding year of 1997 the Service has dealt with over 1400 enquiries and directly helped over 2000 people.

We actively network with other London mediation services through the London Mediation Co-ordinators’ Group.
We are a voluntary sector member of the West London Community Cohesion Partnership and Ealing Community Network. We support the work of the Safer Ealing Partnership.

Mission and vision statements

Mission Statement
To provide a fully accessible, independent, impartial, confidential and free community mediation service, to CLS and Mediation UK standards, to all residents within the London Borough of Ealing (and where negotiated, in Harrow, Hounslow and Brent). To train local residents to gain the skills required to mediate and empower local people to communicate and resolve their differences in a peaceful manner. To raise awareness of mediation within the local community and diversify the service into new areas.

Vision Statement
Our vision is to be the centre of expertise on community-based mediation, alternative approaches to dispute and conflict resolution, and related training within the London Borough of Ealing, and to maintain the Community Legal Services Quality Mark for Mediation Services achieved May 2005.
